When they meet, it's love at first sight--for Godai anyway. As they learn to deal with each other, they must also deal with the other tenants (the mysterious Yotsuya, the alcohol-guzzling Ichinose, and the brash Akemi), who delight in watching their developing relationship and occasionally interfere to make their lives more interesting. To complicate matters further, the wealthy tennis coach, Shun Mitaka, has his eye on Kyoko, while Godai is pursued by both Nanao Kozue and Ibuki Yagami. Provoking a wide range of emotions from the hysterically funny to the painfully sad, Maison Ikkoku -- all 96 episodes -- is well worth watching.
